She recalls being exposed to the struggle for racial equality as a child looking at photographs from Life Magazine, and becoming socially activated. She also recalls being kicked out of her home at the age of 21 and experiencing housing insecurity. Sabiyha also feels strongly about sexism and harassment in the workplace and has stood up against it.
